Tim O'Connor To Take New Post With The President

New York's Consul General Tim O'Connor will be taking up the position of Secretary General to the Irish President in March (James Higgins)

Last week it was announced that, following consultation with the President, Mr. Tim O'Connor, who is at present the Consul General of Ireland in New York, has been appointed as Secretary General to the President.

The appointment follows the retirement of Mr. Brian McCarthy. who completed his 45-year career in the Civil Service working in the Departments of Industry and Commerce, Finance and the Department of the Taoiseach.

He served as Secretary General to President McAleese for the past nine years.

Mr. O'Connor, who has served as Consul General in the New York Consulate since 2005 will take up his new duties in March.
