The Reds Are Out Of The Cup

New Gunner Rosicky Keeps His Powder Dry To Knock Out The Holder's Liverpool In Front Of The Kop

Arsenal 3 Tottenham Hotspur 0


Arsenal ended Liverpool's defense of the FA Cup winning the third-round tie at Anfield 3-1. Tomas Rosicky put the Gunners ahead with a 37th-minute shot and he then curled in a second on the stroke of half-time. Dirk Kuyt's deflection from a Peter Crouch header gave the holders hope with 20 minutes but Thierry Henry scored Arsenal's third seven minutes from time.

Birmingham City 2 Newcastle United 2


Championship leaders Birmingham overcame the first-half sending off of Radhi Jaidi to claim a last-gasp 2-2 draw against Newcastle. Dudley Campbell opened the scoring and Steven Taylor leveled the scores before goals from Kieron Dyer and Sebastian Larsson ensured the game would go to a replay.

Sheffield United 0 Swansea City 3


Neil Warnock's Sheffield United are out of the cup after going down 3-0 at League One Swansea. Thomas Butler scored twice in six second-half minutes. Adebayo Akinfenwa had his shot blocked after 53 minutes but the ball broke to Butler who was first to react, scoring from close range before following up with a left-foot finish after an hour. Butler was brought down in the 66th minute by Derek Geary, resulting in a penalty that Leon Britton converted.

West Ham United 3 Brighton & Hove Albion 0


West Ham found their scoring form again to win 3-0 against Brighton. Mark Noble scored the first with a simple finish inside the area. Carlton Cole then scored for only the second time in his Hammers' career before Hayden Mullins added a third.

Doncaster Rovers 0 Bolton Wanderers 4


Bolton cruised into the fourth round as two goals from Andranik Teymourian and one each for Kevin Davies and Idan Tal were much too much for Rovers.

Nottingham Forest 2 Charlton Athletic 0


Alan Pardew's Charlton were dumped out by League One side Nottingham Forest. The Addicks were terrible in defense and failed to create a goal scoring opportunity as goals from Junior Agogo and Grant Holt put Forest in the fourth round.

Hull City 1 Middlesbrough 1


Australian striker Mark Viduka looked to have won the game for Boro but Nicky Forster, on the field for just two minutes, headed David Livermore's centre past Brad Jones to ensure Phil Brown's Hull would be heading to The Riverside for a replay.

Chelsea 6 Macclesfield Town 1


Chelsea beat Macclesfield 6-1, the away team had goalkeeper Tommy Lee sent off after he brought down Andriy Shevchenko inside the area and defender David Morley was forced to don the gloves. Frank Lampard converted the spot-kick to complete his hat-trick following two first-half goals. John Murphy had given Paul Ince's side hope making it 1-1 but goals from Shaun Wright-Phillips, Mikel John Obi and Ricardo Carvalho completed the rout.

Leicester City 2 Fulham 2


Brian McBride and Patrick Kisnorbo's goals in the second half cancelled each other out and just when Moritz Volz's goal looked to have secured the Cottagers' a place in the fourth-round draw, Leicester's Danny Cadamarteri scored in the 92nd minute to earn a 2-2 draw and a replay with Fulham.

Portsmouth 2 Wigan Athletic 1


Nothing separated Portsmouth and Wigan for more than an hour but Kanu was the match-winner after Lee McCulloch cancelled out Andy Cole's opener.

Watford 4 Stockport 1


Premiership strugglers Watford secured a 4-1 victory over Stockport despite conceding the first goal of the game. David Poole slotted in a shot from the edge of the area to put the visitors into a shock lead. But Malky Mackay turned in a shot at the far post to level before a Tommy Smith's strike put the Hornets ahead. Mackay bagged his second before an error by keeper James Spencer allowed Moses Ashikodi to score a goal on his Watford debut.

West Bromwich Albion 3 Leeds United 1


Paul McShane got Tony Mowbray's West Brom off to a perfect start after six minutes, leaving veteran strikers Kevin Phillips and John Hartson to make it three before a late Paul Robinson own-goal.

Preston North End 1 Sunderland 0


High-flying Preston edged out Sunderland 1-0 in another all-Championship clash, Brett Ormerod claiming the match-winner after 31 minutes.

Manchester United 2 Aston Villa 1


In Sunday's early game on-loan striker Henrik Larsson scored a debut goal as United sent Aston Villa out of the FA Cup thanks to an injury-time mistake from Gabor Kiraly. The on-loan Villa goalkeeper let a low shot from sub Ole Gunnar Solskjaer slide under his body in the 91st minute to give the Red Devils a 2-1 win after Larsson and Milan Baros had cancelled each other out.

Everton 1 Blackburn Rovers 4


3 goals in the first-half helped put Everton out at the first hurdle as Rovers won 4-1 at Goodison Park. Rovers striker Matt Derbyshire, who spent much of last season on loan at Wrexham, scored his second goal in a week as Mark Hughes side men netted three times in the first 38 minutes. Morten Gamst Pedersen then gave Howard no chance after 21 minutes, hitting home a 25-yard drive before Paul Gallagher made it three before the break. Everton's consolation came in the second half when Andrew Johnson converted a 69th-minute penalty but Benni McCarthy finished things off with his 13th strike of the season in stoppage time.

Sheffield Wednesday 1 Manchester City 1


Wednesday hit back from a goal behind to draw 1-1 with Premiership opponents City. Steven MacLean bagged the equalizer for the Owls just moments after they had gone behind from Georgios Samaras' opener from the spot after Micah Richards was brought down by Kenny Lunt.

Cardiff City 0 Tottenham Hotspur 0


In the day's final game, Cardiff and Tottenham played out a goalless draw at Ninian Park, with chances hard to come by. Michael Chopra had the best opportunity of the match when he intercepted Young-Pyo Lee's weak header, but he rolled the ball wide with Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson advancing.

The matches between Reading and Burnley and Barnet and Colchester were postponed.
