Bolton End The Gunners' Title Hopes At The Reebok

Honors Shared Between Red Devils and Blues At Old Trafford

Charlton Athletic 1 Everton 1

Les Reed's home debut as Charlton coach ended in a 1-1 draw in Saturday's early kick-off against Everton, a result which left the Addicks stuck at the bottom of the Premiership. The Addicks went behind in the 52nd minute when Hermann Hreidarsson deflected Mikel Arteta's free-kick past Scott Carson. Charlton leveled when Andy Reid hit home a shot from outside the box in the 68th minute.

Bolton Wanderers 3 Arsenal 1

Bolton moved up to 3rd in the EPL with a 3-1 win over Arsenal at the Reebok. Abdoulaye Faye headed home Diouf's corner in the ninth minute to give Bolton the lead before Nicolas Anelka latched on to Kevin Davies' pass, in the 45th minute and unleashed an unstoppable shot into the top corner from 25 yards. Gilberto pulled one back for Arsenal before the break, but Anelka made sure of all three points after 75 minutes when he scored from Ivan Campo's through-ball.

Liverpool 1 Manchester City 0

At Anfield it was a sixth away defeat from seven Premiership outings this season for City as Steven Gerrard's first Premiership goal of the season helped Liverpool to a 1-0 win. Gerrard scored from Dirk Kuyt's lay-off, thumping home a shot from the edge of the box in the 67th minute to maintain the Reds' unbeaten home league record. For City.

Aston Villa 1 Middlesbrough 1

Aston Villa are unbeaten at home this season but they had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Boro, who are still to win away from the Riverside under Gareth Southgate. Malcolm Christie scored in the 43rd minute when he fired in for his first goal since February 2005. Villa were awarded a penalty when Stilian Petrov went down under challenge from Mark Schwarzer and Gareth Barry drilled in the spot-kick in first-half stoppage time.

West Ham United 1 Sheffield United 0

At Upton Park Eggert Magnusson's takeover of West Ham was completed last week and after being given a good East End welcome, Magnusson cheered as Hayden Mullins headed in after 35 minutes from Matthew Etherington's corner.

Fulham 0 Reading 1

Reading beat 10-man Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage. Ian Pearce was sent off after he tripped Kevin Doyle in the box, and the Irishman dusted himself down to slot in the penalty in the 17th minute for his fourth goal in five games for club and country.

Tottenham Hotspur 3 Wigan Athletic 1

Spurs went behind to Henri Camara's 24th-minute volley but fought back with two goals in 89 seconds before the break. Jermain Defoe leveled the scoring in the 42nd minute with his 50th Premiership goal and Berbatov scored the second moments later. Aaron Lennon completed the scoring with a third in stoppage time.

Newcastle United 1 Portsmouth 0

Antoine Sibierski, who scored in the Magpies' UEFA Cup win over Celta Vigo, started on the bench but was introduced as a replacement for the injured James Milner and Sibierski tapped home the winner from close range on 69 minutes.

Manchester United 1 Chelsea 1

In Sunday's late game Louis Saha gave United the lead with a daisy cutter shot on 29 minutes. But, after the break, Carvalho's powerful header prevented the Red Devils opening a six-point lead at the top, though they remain three points clear.
